Greetings fellow Grad students, and welcome to Fall Quarter and to a revitalized Colloquium!

Here is Emm’s report about the first Colloquium meeting of the new year:

Hi everyone,

The colloquium has just had our first meeting and we threw out some really good ideas for the next quarter, and year ahead. In addition to our usual informal meetings and mock conference presentations, we’re going to work on getting some other things together:

-Checking with other departments to see if there are other Asia-related students we don’t know about
-Talks with visiting professors and recent hires in our department and others (we did this two years ago and found it really beneficial)
-Talks with ABD students about exams
-Giving practice lectures on topics we don’t always get to share
-Film screenings, perhaps combined with a potluck?
-Starting up a facebook group specifically for the Colloquium

Any other suggestions would certainly be welcome!

Next meeting: Tuesday, October 22, 2-3:30pm, Location TBD
Hope to see you there!

Best, Emm

Greetings,

It has been brought to our attention (thanks to Cara) that the information on the “Requirements” page of this blog may have been outdated.

Please double check the current degree requirements as they appear on the EALCS website (updated periodically).

The best way to make sure you are on track to fulfill your degree requirements is to go over your progress with Sally Lombrozo regularly.
